Phat Albert - Chris Smith
Introducing Phat Albert.
With 12 years experience in some of Teesside's biggest bars and clubs, playing alongside some of the most notorious names in British urban music, including Tim Westwood, G-Child and Semtex, Albert certainly know a thing or two about how to entertain a crowd.
His music? All things urban with a twist of pure genius. He is probably best known for his residency at one of the most infamous nights in Middlesbrough clubbing history, simply known as $KINT, but he is now gaining local fame for another reason: his residency at Clique, Teesside's busiest and best urban night only at The Keys Yarm.
Dave Strangeways - Davy D
David Strangeways (aka Davy D) has been playing records since 1986 and since then he's played nearly every venue in Teesside at least twice!
His career has seen him play alongside some of the greats of house music Todd Terry, CJ Macintosh, Alister Whitehead and Graeme Park to name a few.
In the late 80s/early 90s you could find him playing at the early raves as well as at nightclubs like Bennetts, Philmores, The Mall and Club Havana and also at the biggest bar in Middlesbrough, The Venue on Wilson Street - 2000 punters every Saturday night for 8 years.
In the year 2000 he helped with the music policy for Ibiza Bar on Stockton High Street, where he stayed till 2005. In 2007 he came to the Keys, Yarm and is now resident in the bar on a Friday and Saturday. His yearly 1989 club classics night is always full to capacity.
Musically he plays everything from early soul like Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, classic 80s hip hop from the likes of KRS One and Grandmaster Flash, 90s house and cool 70s disco, with his own re-edits and the odd modern disco/house nugget snaking its way in. It's a refreshing mixture that works well as the perfect warm up for the nightclub.
